Message of Greeting from Ilse Aigner, Bavarian State Minister of Economic Affairs and Media, Energy and Technology on the occasion of AIRTEC 2016
Ladies and Gentlemen,
the aerospace industry is steering along a consistent growth course with superb business prospects. Driven by this momentum the sector requires creative entrepreneurs, innovative technologies and new business and cooperation models. For the official opening of the international AIRTEC trade fair on 25 October I am therefore delighted to underscore the importance of this event for the aviation and aerospace sector. AIRTEC strengthens the high-tech region of Munich as one of Europe’s outstanding aerospace locations and a meeting place for international representatives of the industry. Already last year the trade show clearly demonstrated its potential for speeding up the internationalisation of the sector and for the development of new business models. This is good news and important for healthy Bavarian mid-sized businesses and for strong supply chains from Germany!
Marking its tenth anniversary last year, AIRTEC relocated its venue to the Munich exhibition grounds and has expanded its content. This year, the fair will again be presenting and discussing current economic, ecological and technological trends, aiming to facilitate optimal positioning of the industry on the international marketplace. The topics addressed at AIRTEC cover location-relevant aspects and technological issues such as the commercialisation of aerospace, for instance, or the future of unmanned aerial vehicles.
Munich provides an ideal platform for AIRTEC, most importantly due to the excellent position of the Bavarian aerospace industry in AIRTEC-relevant industrial sectors. Many businesses and institutions based in Bavaria are global leaders. This holds true for original equipment manufacturers and tier one or tier two suppliers, for other component suppliers and for service providers and scientific institutions alike.
I would like to thank the organisers for their personal dedication and the creative energy they have put into the preparation and implementation of the show at the Munich Exhibition Center. I wish all visitors stimulating and productive discussions, and AIRTEC as a whole every success.
