Welcome address of the Bavarian State Minister of Science and the Arts, Bernd Sibler, for the opening of “Airtec19 – Enabling Future Mobility”

As a renowned location for science and industry, the Free State of Bavaria stands for innovation and progress. It is our goal that Bavaria’s excellent research institutes and successful companies help shape the future. This is why we have supported new concepts for mobility – on the road as well as in the air – with our research and innovation policies for a long time. Amongst our latest measures are the foundation of a new department for aviation, space travel and geodesy at the Technical University of Munich as well as setting up a research and development center for battery technology at the University of Bayreuth. A highly effective research infrastructure and top qualified university graduates are decisive for our competitiveness and for our social and economic welfare.

Our society’s expectations for safe, comfortable and eco-friendly concepts of mobility are just as high as the technical challenges that lie ahead. Therefore, I am delighted to see that Airtec19 unites internationally leading experts of two key industries in the Bavarian State capital under the slogan “Aerospace meets Automotive” in order to exchange new ideas, developments and potentials and to present innovations. I hope that many new opportunities for cooperation will open up and that all participants will gain valuable new insights.

I want to express my gratefulness to the organizers, to all the supporters and to the sponsors – this conference could not be realized without their commitment. I wish all participants of Airtec19 fascinating presentations and inspiring conversations as well as a pleasant stay in our beautiful city of Munich!
