SLM Solutions is an integrated solutions provider and metal additive manufacturing partner. The company takes a vested interest in customer’s long-term success with metal additive manufacturing, and its robust Selective Laser Melting machines optimize fast, reliable, and cost-efficient part production. SLM Solutions’ experts work with customers at each stage of the process to provide support that elevates the use of the technology and ensures their return on investment is maximized. A publicly traded company, SLM Solutions Group AG is headquartered in Germany, with offices in Canada, China, France, India, Italy, Russia, Singapore, and the United States.
The aviation market (defense and commercial) is a risk mitigation industry and designers must have material property data (material strength data) so components can be designed without the fear of failure.
This 30-minute presentation will provide a high-level review of why process / material characterization for 3D printing needs to be performed at all elements of the supply chain.
Discussions will be had on the alloys currently in production and what alloys are being considering for production.
The speaker will also address what actions being taken by SLM Solutions in conjunction with North American universities and government agencies to help expedite material characterization for industry.
DONALD GODFREY is employed with SLM-Solutions as Sr. Fellow, Aerospace and Department of Defense Additive Strategy. He is a globally recognized authority on additive manufacturing.
