Airtec19 connects the aerospace with the automotive industry in new technologies, autonomy, electrification und connectivity. Airtec19 has the aim, to connect the conventional aerospace industry with the new topics of the new climate friendly mobility and equally to close the bridge to the automotive industry, which has similar challenges like the aerospace industry. Technological concepts like hybrid control, fuel cells or alternative technologies, light weight concepts and production processes like additive manufacturing are also major topics at the international conference and in the workshops of Airtec19 as well as over lapping concepts in the urban mobility combined with the necessary infrastructure.
Both industries, aerospace and automotive, must face the challenges of the modern societies to design and manufacture more climate friendly vehicles and aircrafts. New methods of mobility will be discussed at Airtec19. The increasing traffic density, new concepts of urban air mobility are main topics of Airtec19. The innovative new industry of air taxis manned and unmanned are main topics of Airtec19. Like no other event Airtec 19 connects the conventional aerospace industry with the new mobility topics.
The first day, October 14, the international conference starts with keynotes on urban air mobility represented by highly renowned speakers from the industry. In the afternoon there is the panel discussion “Future Air Mobility – from vision to Reality” with speakers from EmbraerX, Urban Air Mobility, Airbus, FACC/EHang, Vertical Flight Society. On the second conference day, October 15h, the international conference starts with the session light weight, which is represented by renowned companies like Voith and the light weight center in Saxony and Fraunhofer for manufacturing technology and applied material research (IFAM). It is followed by the session for additive manufacturing with representatives from well-known companies and research institutions like the RWTH Aachen, Materialise and EOS. The session vision, concepts and solutions, infrastructure and operations is also represented by renowned companies and research institutions like the DLR GfR, Rohde & Schwarz, Apsys, TE Connectivity, AES Aerospace Embedded Solutions, TU München, GSI. On Tuesday, October, 15, workshops on specifications of fuel cells from Volkswagen, infrastructure and operations from the DLR, DLR GfR, MHP-a Porsche Company and on additive manufacturing by RWTH Aachen, EOS and Materialise are organized.
It has also to be emphasized, that Airtec19 offers an attractive start-up event: Start-Up Aeronautics Pitching Event by Starbust. Five innovative and enthusiastic start-up companies present their highly exciting products on a Start-Up exhibition area. Starbust organizes a Pitching Session on Tuesday afternoon, October 15, 2019 after the workshops. The jury votes for the winner at place. The winner receives an award that will be handed over during the Get-Together evening Tuesday evening. Sponsors of the Award are AES Aerospace Embedded Solutions and Rohde & Schwarz. The award is designed and sponsored by materialize in 3D print. Start-Ups like Carplane, Hionos, OXIS Energy Ltd, R3 Communications GmbH, Blackwave take part.
On Wednesday, October 16, 2019 presentations on the topics of composites und additive manufacturing and likewise a start-up pitching session takes place. A workshop with the renowned companies Rohde & Schwarz and IABG with the exciting topic “urban air mobility-test & validation- challenges for structures and systems” is a further highlight and completes the very exciting and innovative conference program towards the closure of Airtec19.
Why Airtec has aimed to connect the two industries, aerospace and automotive, in the new mobility? Both industries work at present times intensively on new climate friendly concepts. Here, a more intensive exchange of both industries is necessary.
In recent years, the aviation and automotive industries have been undergoing a process of change. Against the background of the threat of global warming, climate protection and the necessary reduction of global CO2 emissions are becoming increasingly important. With a share of around 25% of global CO2 emissions, mobility makes a decisive contribution to climate change. Whereas the lion's share of more than 18% is attributable to road traffic, the share of air traffic is less than 3%. Nevertheless, the aviation industry has set itself ambitious climate targets. By improving aerodynamics and using lighter materials and more efficient engines, it is already possible to improve the efficiency of aircraft by more than 1% per year, but the number of passengers is rising sharply. With a growth rate of approx. 7% per year, the number of passengers will double in the next 15 years.
In power generation, the development of alternative fuels as well as the obligatory fixing of targets and steps on the international level at present time there are decisive challenges, which have to be undertaken in the near future. Airtec19 is prepared for these new requirements and therefore presents itself as a world meeting-place for the aerospace industry and the new mobility in Munich, Germany. The capital of Bavaria in Germany, Munich, becomes an attracting market-place for companies and experts from world-wide, who are involved with the new topics in the aerospace industry as well as in the urban air mobility and the new mobility.
