The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action is aiming to ensure that the aviation industry is making its contribution to the economy’s transformation towards climate neutrality. I am therefore very pleased that zero-emission aviation is one of the priorities of AIRTEC 2023.

A cooperation between OEMs and suppliers is particularly important in this field. The Airtec 2023 is functioning as a well-established platform to connect suppliers with OEMs in the aerospace industry.

This underlines the importance to further improve the technological excellence of our own industry and to push international cooperation with reliable partners.

As we all know: no civil aircraft on the market is manufactured by either Airbus or Boeing alone. It is the joint effort of numerous suppliers – with in-depth specialist knowledge that make complex aircraft systems fly.

For the German aerospace sector Small and Medium Enterprises have and always will play a crucial role as innovators – especially in making an aircraft even more efficient and therefore CO2-saving. I am convinced that it is therefore important that we keep strengthening this part of the value chain.

Thus, internationalization of our supplier base is a top-level-priority of the Federal Ministry. I am convinced that Germany’s SMEs and supplier industry have something profound to contribute to the future markets of the aerospace industry globally.

Innovation by definition, is always associated with change and renewal. That’s why fairs such as Airtec are so important for the industry. I am pleased that Airtec has found a new location in Augsburg, a city with a long tradition in the aerospace industry, which will allow it to grow appropriately. I wish all AIRTEC 2023 participants a successful fair und thirving business opportunities.
